WP11 Network Meeting – January 2026

In January 2026, partners from across the DURABLE network came together for a WP11 meeting dedicated to advancing our collective understanding of vector-borne diseases (VBD). These meetings provide an important platform for collaboration and knowledge exchange across disciplines, bringing together researchers from across Europe.

The January session focused specifically on vector-borne disease dynamics in the context of environmental change, urbanisation, and emerging health risks.

  1. Sandra Jungle, CHARITE: Urban ecology and amplification dynamics of West Nile virus
  2. Reina Sikkema – Erasmus MC: Adapting to sea level rise and peak precipitation events in Rotterdam: a case study for the effects of climate adaptation on mosquito borne virus risk
  3. Líbia Zé-Zé, INSA: Detection of dengue virus serotype 2 in local Aedes aegypti populations, Madeira Island, Portugal, 2025: insights from the Portuguese entomological vector network – REVIVE
  4. Jessica Vanhomwegen, Lucie Cappuccio, IP:  Detecting and differentiating exposure to vector-borne viruses using Multiplex Microsphere Immunoassays: Production of key reagents and protocols for applications in hyperendemic areas

By sharing insights, data, and methodologies, WP11 meetings strengthen the DURABLE network’s ability to respond to current and future challenges in infectious disease prevention and control.
