DURABLE: power of collaborative diagnostic preparedness
During the latest DURABLE meeting on Friday June 19, participants discussed how the network has recently supported the rapid evaluation of diagnostic assays for emerging pathogens, illustrating the value of close collaboration between academic laboratories, reference centres and public health organisations.
The meeting showcased how expertise from across the DURABLE consortium can be mobilised within a short timeframe to assess diagnostic performance, share reference materials and exchange technical knowledge. This collaborative approach helps strengthen preparedness and contributes to faster, evidence-based responses during future outbreaks.
The experiences shared during the meeting also reinforced one of DURABLE’s core objectives: building a sustainable European network capable of responding rapidly to new diagnostic challenges while supporting harmonisation and collaboration across countries.
As the project progresses, DURABLE will continue to expand its network, share expertise and contribute to strengthening Europe’s preparedness for future infectious disease threats.
