WP11 Network Meeting – February 2026

In February 2026, the DURABLE WP11 partners reconvened for another network-wide meeting, this time focusing on diseases transmitted through direct contact from animals. As zoonotic threats continue to emerge and evolve, this session provided a timely opportunity to exchange knowledge on recent developments and ongoing research across the network.

The following researchers presented their work in our February meeting:

  1. Update about Cow H5 in the Netherlands
  2. Bas Oude Munnink – Erasmus MC – Short update on the first cases of mpox clade Ib detected in the Netherlands
  3. Olivier Schwartz – Insitut Pasteur – Update about Borealpox
  4. Johan Neyts – KU Leuven – Work on antiviral strategies against rabies

The meeting highlighted both urgent, real-time updates and forward-looking research efforts, reflecting the dynamic nature of zoonotic disease surveillance and response. From emerging cases in the Netherlands to advances in antiviral strategies, the presentations underscored the importance of collaboration and the possibility of rapid information sharing within the DURABLE consortium.

By bringing together diverse expertise, WP11 meetings continue to play a key role in strengthening preparedness and fostering innovation in the field of infectious diseases in Europe.
